GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Looking towards Birmingham showing the down relief island platform being built prior to the construction of the main up and down island platforms. The line on the left is the down loop line used by slow moving goods trains to move out of the path of passenger services. This view shows that the method of quadrupling the line was widen the existing down platform replacing its original station building with the new platform structures and the new booking office and hall sited on the road bridge. The island platform servicing the main up and down lines has yet to be built and would be sited on the right where the piles of excavated material are deposited.
