Ex-Great Western Railway 4-6-0 60xx 'King' class locomotive No 6006 'King George I' sweeps past Avon Bridge Power Station

Ex-Great Western Railway 4-6-0 60xx 'King' class locomotive No 6006 'King George I' sweeps past Avon Bridge Power Station with a class A headcode on 25th April 1955. This is the daily 11:35 Wolverhampton to Paddington up express. Locomotive No 6006 was built at Swindon Works in February 1928 as part of lot 243. Initially allocated to Laira Shed (LA) in Plymouth, No 6006 was known to have been allocated to Stafford Road Shed (WSR) in Wolverhampton in January 1934 and was also known to have been allocated there in January 1938, December 1947 (just prior to nationalisation), August 1950 and March 1959. No 6006 was withdrawn from Stafford Road Shed (84A) in February 1962 having completed 1,593,367 miles.
