Colour Rail

Colour-Rail has been trading for over twenty years, building its reputation as a supplier of high quality duplicate colour slides depicting steam, diesel and electric railway locomotives as well as trams and trolley buses from the 1930s to the present day. Slides continue to be available being described in detail their catalogue and supplements. You can not only order slides on-line you can now download a host of new images of both rail and road transport or order prints on line. Despite their name, they now also offer black and white views - I understand they resisted the urge to call that part of the service Mono-Rail - with images dating from 1900 to the present day.

There is also a completely new section for the bus enthusiast. Paul Chancellor, the new owner of Colour Rail, reiterates that he will not compromise on the quality of the colour slides and neither does he intend to supply substandard images on-line. However it has to be kept in mind that some images are extremely rare and taken at times when film and cameras were not of the quality available today. By allowing you to see the images before you buy, you have the opportunity to see if they meet your needs- you may just find that illusive piece of detail or the last image that you wanted for your collection amongst the thousands to be seen on line here.

The excellent search facility on the website will help to find images of stations, signal boxes, tunnels and bridges as well as glimpses of contemporary cars and fashions. If you are looking for something from overseas why not visit their non-UK rail section. As well as slides, prints and downloads there is a collection of art pictures for that special picture to hang on the wall or give as a gift to a friend. If you are tired of pictures then visit their comprehensive second hand book and ephemera section.
